Corat Coret 19.03.13


Assalamualaikum,

Lama juga rasanya tidak mencoret di sini, agak sibuk bila bekerja, belajar & berkeluarga nie. Tanggungjawab kerja tidak pernah berkurang, bertambah ada lah. Mungkin GM nak bagi challenging task to enable me for promotion. Alhamdulillah, kalau berjaya menyahut cabaran tugasan yang cukup mencabar nie. Takut juga dan kekadang berfikir, naik gaji cam biasa tapi tak nak naik pangkat boleh tak? Sebab bukan apa, takut tengok peringkat pengurus ke atas kat pejabat tu. Ramai sangat stress, sampai sakit jantung dan pelbagai penyakit lagi lah. 

Selesa juga jadi eksekutif ni, kalau tak ada tambahan bebanan kerja melampau dari yang sedia ada. I am more to a family man, harap ada kerjaya & pendapatan stabil sudah cukup rasa nya. Biar ada masa untuk luangkan bersama keluarga, membesarkan anak-anak dengan penuh perhatian & kasih sayang, membawa isteri melancong ke pelbagai destinasi dalam dan luar negara saban tahun kelihatan lebih menarik dari tekanan kerja peringkat pengurus.

Apa lagi yer nak share di sini.. Berkaitan pengalaman menjadi pelajar Master. Buat part time nie memang sedikit menekan juga, apatah lagi GM tak berapa menggalakkan buat masa ini untuk menyambung pelajaran ke peringkat Master. Mungkin pengalaman beliau tidak berjaya menyudahkan MBA nya di Berkeley, dan hanya dianugerahkan post grad diploma menyebabkan dia begitu.

Tapi kami Group MBA Januari 2013 OUM Johor Bahru ada strategi kami tersendiri. Kami menubuhkan Study Group yang saling berkongsi maklumat, menyokong dan mendorong semangat masing-masing untuk terus menyelesaikan tugasan yang menghimpit kami. Mujur, just barely submit on time for all the deadline given. My class mate, you all rocks lah. 

Pasal salah satu assignment, ada cerita suka duka di sini. Bila mana perlu menghantar tugasan tersebut, masa semakin suntuk yang berbaki untuk menyudahkannya. Kerangka asas sudah ada, iaitu bahan-bahan mentah assignment seperti annual report, artikel dari internet, buku nota kelas dan buku rujukan management terbentang. So, bila bahan semua dah lengkap. Chef hanya perlu memulakan proses penyediaan tugasan tersebut.

Bermula pada jam 7 hingga 7.30.. Lebih 12 jam diluangkan untuk menyudahkan tugasan in one shot dan terus print. Terlupa nak makan lunch dan dinner sampai aritu. 8.30 malam pula terus berkumpul di ofis kawan kami di Setia Tropika. Nak selesaikan subjek ekonomi pula. Mujur malam tu perbincangan lancar dan cepat.

Esok hari nya pula datang ke ofis cukup awal untuk sediakan bahan pembentangan dalam mesyuarat jawatankuasa khas. Hai, GM lantik jadi secretary mesyuarat tu kan. Banyak kerja nak buat sebenarnya. Mujur staf-staf lain banyak membantu dalam penyediaan bilik mesyuarat, jamuan, laptop & projektor dsb. Selesai satu lagi tugasan dengan jayanya.

Areas which could have done better:

1. For Leadership Behaviour, how the leader makes use of knowledge, experience, character and values for the organization.  Their relationship with above & below levels, use of power, decision making style, adaptability.  

2. Motivation - should include how a good leader (not JCorp per se) motivates through interpersonal communication and managerial skills via power and authority at his disposal.  Also through challenging job design, knowing needs and satisfying them, empowerment, performance assessment & attractive reward system.

3. Quality & Innovation - these are some of the drivers of Competitive Advantage.  To ensure quality, there must be good R&D and feedback for continuous sustainment & enhancement. Innovation must be encouraged not only through R&D but also reward and performance systems.  You may need to read up Competitive Advantage and sources.
 
Lastly, take note of the question points so as not to leave anything out.  Hope these comments highlight areas you need to work on for exams.

NATIONAL CORPORATE PERSONALITY: 
TAN SRI DATO’ MUHAMMAD ALI HASHIM
I had known the former chairman and CEO of the Johor Corporation (JCorp) and Kulim Malaysia Berhad (KMB), Tan Sri Dato’ Muhammad Ali Hashim for almost two years. Sometimes deal with his senior officers and often get to know about the subsidiaries development of JCorp such as KPJ Helathcare, Sindora Berhad, Johor Land, KMB, KFCH and QSR Brands Berhad . Throughout my being an executive in one of the company which is KMB, I am very comfortable working and so easy to get the views and ideas of him. To be honest I have to say, he was one of the very CEO I admire and respect. Methods and strategies Tan Sri Ali Hashim to apply Islamic Concept in the organization under his administration should be praised and given awards.

I know Tan Sri Ali Hashim through idealism that is often a multi-party discussion of "Business Jihad" and "Economic Jihad" and I am pretty lucky to have time to hear, discuss and learn with him in respect of both these concepts.

He is a proven successful corporate figures that could translate the New Economic Policy in a very practical ways and implementing Islamic morals in organizational management so effective. This combination creating a unique identity for JCorp and it help to drive the organisation to excellence. I believe in his way to separate corporate world with the political world rhythm that makes defamation and lies, as magic tool to prove the greatness. That is why he makes an enemy of many politicians because he honestly manages JCorp as pure business entity and makes it rise to the greatness.
